Hilltop is a location in all incarnations of Lost River.

In Lost River (Classic)[]

In WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, Hilltop is a location in Lost River (Classic).

It is one of a few tall vantage points, and the only one central to the game map and the world map interface that offers all-around scenic views. Players will find an easy-to-traverse road leading up to it from Grant's Glen, taking them past an old sofa. They can also opt to go off-road and climb the rugged terrain to reach its peak instead; be cautious of steep, slippery terrain!

At the top is a wooden viewing platform overlooking Downtown and an old Fire Tower. The stairs to both can be climbed; the latter of these allows access to a small, cramped cabin which contains a bed, a desk with a few bits and pieces on top (including an old pair of binoculars and an open diary exposing its owner's final entry prior to the place being evacuated) and a chair. All of these are in relatively good condition.

Unlike its predecessor, there are no Explore achievements to be earned here.

In WolfQuest: Classic, Hilltop is the tallest central vantage point in Lost River.

Only the stairs to the viewing platform can be climbed; the Fire Tower is inaccessible, and its stairs are obstructed by an invisible collision box surrounding the structure.

The campfire ring sits a little way away from the stairs of the viewing platform. Visiting it and the Fire Tower for the first time will each award an achievement in the Places category provided an account is signed-in and the player has an active internet connection.

In Lost River (Modern)[]

Hilltop viewed on the World Map.

In WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, the Hilltop is a location in modern Lost River map. The hill and the fire tower are still present, but there is no label for it on the map. It offers a tall vantage point, however unlike its classic predecessor it is not the only way to get a good view of the entire map. There is a winding dirt road leading up to the fire tower that ends in a small parking lot.

From up in the tower, the player can view the mountains and the old roads of the map. The BCE Facility and the large dam can be easily seen to the south, the road leading to the tunnel exit out of Lost River to the west, Alison Acres to the east, and the wilderness to the north.

As of 1.1.0, the fire tower received a new model. Formerly, it used the same model as Classic Lost River. The current version has a slightly larger interior, and provides some more information on its former inhabitant.

Progress toward the Lost River Explore achievement can be earned here through the Coffee Mug that can be found in the tower.

Trivia[]

Anniversary Edition Trivia

  • Unlike its previous incarnations, the modern Lost River map has some areas of burnt trees and vegetation, suggesting wildfires. This offers a clearer explanation for why the fire tower was necessary.
  • The bed in the modern map's fire tower can be slept on, earning progress toward the Goldilocks Lost River achievement.
  • The Coffee Mug at the fire tower was located underneath the tower before version 1.1.0, when it was moved into the updated interior.
