Mac, also known as Macintosh or Mac OS, is the core name of the computer-based operating system developed and distributed by the company Apple. These devices have different model names. Prices, technical specifications, version numbers/names and other such details may vary across models.
WolfQuest has been available on the Macintosh operating system since its 2007 demo release. The game utilizes the Unity 3D engine across every release and was developed by Eduweb (2006 — present) with support from the Minnesota Zoo (2006 — 2018).
This article documents versions of the WolfQuest application on this operating system where available.
Overview[]
Pending write-up.
WolfQuest: Classic, formerly known as WolfQuest 2.7 prior to the release of the Anniversary Edition, was announced on April 25th by loboLoco[1].
Development for Classic ended at some point in 2017. Due to conflicting information in the support knowledge base, it is unclear whether 2.7 development has ceased completely, or if its development will continue in some capacity post-completion of the Anniversary Edition remake. As-is, any updates seem to focus more on critical bug fixes as opposed to new features.

Legacy versions of WolfQuest refer to 2.5.1 all the way down to 1.1.0.
Development ceased at some point after October 2011 due to exhausted funding resources. At the time, it plunged the project into an indefinite hiatus with an uncertain future.

Price[]
Unlike previous versions, Anniversary Edition and Classic are not completely free games like its predecessors. Classic is free to download and play up to certain point in progress, with only the full single-player Amethyst Mountain episode available to play, while Anniversary Edition does not have a demo.
Purchasing both full games for $19.99 USD unlocks everything Classic has to offer: the second episode (Slough Creek), the account system, multiplayer, the Lost River game world, and all available wolf customizations. Both games come bundled together, so regardless of which one is purchased, the other will also be acquired free of additional charge.
This release is free to download from the WolfQuest website — the installer is a 244MB .DMG file. The current version is 2.5.1 and includes Amethyst Mountain and Slough Creek in single-player. Multiplayer is no longer in service.

Bugs[]
- New versions of MacOS do not support 3D clouds. They turn the screen completely black or green (or other visual issues), which would render the game virtually unplayable. They have since been disabled by default at all quality levels as of v1.0.7h, although with the option to override (with a warning notification when doing so).
- There are multiple glitches[4] with Apple Silicon (M1 and M2[5] chip) Macs. Players will receive a notification when launching the game on one of these Macs, which will reappear each time they launch, until they select the option to not show it again.
- These include the inverse kinetic system not properly adapting wolf feet to rough terrain, resulting in buggy visuals, so it has been disabled. Along with this, trees in Basic Sky & Vegetation Mode would be stretched out, but as of v1.0.8h, this mode is not able to be selected (as these Macs can run Enhanced mode).
- These issues have been addressed in a devblog[6] where loboLoco states that they are attempting to find a solution.
